An Easy Way to Help A Vet

Posted on 08 December 2015 by admin (0)

Recently I had a breakfast with several Vietnam War veterans and heard their stories about how that war had affected them and the help that many of them still need.  I was so moved by these stories that I decided to make this appeal to each and every one of you who take the time to read this.

I would like to draw your attention to a wonderful program offered by the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA).  This national not-for-profit organization collects new and gently used household goods, clothing, appliances, and many other items (see their list) from donors and then sells them in bulk to thrift stores.  The revenue generated is used to support all American veterans.  VVA also provides job training and education for veterans, as well as helping them with myriad health related issues.

It is unbelievably easy to help VVA with this program. Call 1-800-459-VETS (8397) or go to www.vvapickup.org and schedule an appointment for the VVA truck to pick up your items at a time that is convenient for you. Anything that you donate will be tax deductible on your tax return in the year that you make the donation. Be sure to request a receipt from them.

This is a great opportunity to do something for our vets who have done so much for each of us.  I encourage you with all my energy to please help these fine Americans.

Thank you so much for your consideration and help.
